Course Outline:
The Certificate in Small Business Management (CSBM) is a Level 4 NZQA approved qualification. This course has been designed for business owners and potential business owners and is based on your own business or business idea. This course will help assist you to make decisions about going into business and to develop business skills to help in business. You will complete a comprehensive business plan for your own business.

Module 1: Introduction to Small Business Management |
This modules focus is on determining what you see as success and what you need to know to be successful in business. In this module you will develop your strategic plan for your business or business idea. |

Module 2: Introduction to Business Law |
This modules focus is based on the essentials of business law and what you need to know; your obligations, consumer law and tax obligations. In this module you will develop a legal plan for your business or business idea. |

Module 3: Introduction to Marketing |
This modules focus is based on developing and conducting a survey and how to market your business. In this module you will develop a marketing plan for your business or business idea. |

Module 4: Introduction to HR and Operations |
This modules focus is based on covering legal matters regarding employees, pay and how to organise your premises. In this module you will develop an HR and Operations plan for your business. |

Module 5: Introduction to Small Business Accounting |
This modules focus is based on basic accounting practices. In this module you will develop an understanding of the reports produced by your accountant . |

Module 6: Introduction to Financial Management |
This modules focus is based on your business financials including the income, expense, cash flow and profit. In this module you will develop a financial plan for your business or business idea. |
